Custom Engraving was started in 2000 by Tim Treacy. Tim worked for a company that was a large chrome plating supplier to HD, Southwest Metal Finishing. Tim was the Product Development Manager and his main responsibility was to work with HD Styling, Purchasing & Engineering bringing parts/products into production for new models.
Tim’s background with engraving was utilized in bringing designs forward for several HD projects including, but not limited to:
- 100th Anniversary Derby Covers
- “Six Speed” engraving on Transmission Side Covers
- Etched Brake/Clutch levers for P&A
- Etched Skullfire Sprockets for P&A
- Rivet engraving for the HD Museum
- Vrod “NightRod Special” Derby Covers
- Ultra-Classic CVO Fuel Lids
Custom Engraving prides itself on the detail that goes into the designs it creates for others. There are techniques that have been learned over the years that allow cutting tools as small as a human hair to be used to get that fine detail. Small tools are fragile, and can’t be pushed as hard as larger ones. It may take longer, but the quality of the end product makes it worth it. In addition to the fine detail, using factory parts, full-color paint & 24kt gold plating differentiate Custom Engraving from the few others that provide engraving for Harley parts.
